Bamboos may be further qualified by the number of canes/culms/shoots which can be expected for a given size of specified plant. Grades have now been established indicating the minimum number of shoots/canes/culms which can be expected for rootballed and container grown bamboos of a range of growth types and sizes.

Rootballed Bamboos

The number of canes/culms/shoots, which is dependent on growth habit and size, may be specified in the following grades :

Container Grown Bamboos

The number of canes/culms/shoots occurring from ground level is specified.
