Bamboos : Overall Height
General
The overall height is significant in the purchase of bamboos, although less significant than the root condition and the number of canes/culms/shoots which is to be expected for the plant of that size.
Bamboos can be divided into three groups:
| Dwarf: |
e.g. Pleioblastus humilis var. pumilus (Arundinaria pumilus) |
| Medium: |
e.g. Fargesia murieliae 'Simba' (Arundinaria murieliae 'Simba') |
| Vigorous: |
e.g Fargesia murieliae (Arundinaria murieliae) |
Bamboos are available rootballed or container grown. However mainly supplied container grown.

The following are the typical height or spread grades used for the supply of container grown bamboos. The actual grade is determined by the cultural conditions of the plant and the characteristics of the species/cv.
